Food for Thought | Easy Recipes for Exam Week

With exam weeks coming up it is important to fuel your brain with a mix of good foods. However, it can be hard to find the time to cook these foods. These easy recipes can help you make it through the brunt of exam week.

  • Steel Cut Oatmeal – Steel cut oatmeal is a great heat before you run breakfast. When you have a spare 20 minutes, cook up a big pot. You can then just warm it up each morning. Add some apples and honey to add a little sugar kick.
  • Pizza Soup and Grilled Cheese – Grab a can of tomato soup, a pack of salami or pepperoni and ingredients for grilled cheeses. Warm up the soup placing the pepperoni straight in the pot. Make your grilled cheese while the soup warms up and you have a full delicious meal.
  • Black Beans with Lime & Avocado – A tin of beans is one of the easiest ways to grab a complete meal in just minutes. Warm up your black beans add the lime juice and salt if the beans aren't already salted. Slice up an avocado and place it on top of the heated black beans. Add a piece of fruit and you have a filling, balanced meal.
  • Baked Sweet Potatoes and Bacon – If you are at home studying throw some sweet potatoes in the oven. Rub a little oil on the skin, pierce them with a fork then place in a 350-degree oven until they are soft, about 45 minutes. When they come out of the oven add some butter or yogurt and bacon crumbles.

These simple meals can be a great way to get the carbs, protein and fats you need to help pass your exams.
